How can i change a video from quick time to something that wil work with wondows?

My camera only records using the quick time program than is not compatible with the windows movie make program i use. Is there a way to change the format of the videos? Or is there another program i can use to make videos without having to change the format of the videos?How can i change a video from quick time to something that wil work with wondows?
windows movie maker accepts videos with AVI, WMV, ASF, or MPG extensions, QuickTime videos are not supported.
