How to change the format of a video?

Step by step instructions would be awesome...I have Windows Vista and I need to change the format of my videos so I can import them to Windows Movie Maker...thanks! :)How to change the format of a video?
You can try using VLC Player http://www.videolan.org/. It opens virtually every video file. It has a wizard, Media --%26gt; Convert/Save, and then allows you to stream the file to another format. I would suggest installing the K-Lite Codec Pack http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_li before you stream it out. Depending on the file you are converting, that codec pack will make sure you have the most popular video/audio codecs.

Good luck,
