How do i change video format?

i have the ipod nano with the camera in it and i have the video that i took in my documents but when i tried to upload it to youtube it didnt work i think its because of the format? it is an IMG_0007.mp4

right click... rename ... the file img.mp4 into img.avi or img.mpg
