How do I change the file format of a file on windows vista?

I'm trying to change the file format of a video file from *.mp4 to *.3GP. Problem is, when i rename the file (which is on my desktop), it doesnt change the file format. Instead, it just adds it as part of the name of the file. For example, a file %26quot;video.mp4%26quot;, after right clicking and renaming it %26quot;video.3GP%26quot;, it instead becomes %26quot;video.3GP.mp4%26quot;. Anyone know how to fix this??? Thanx in advance! :)How do I change the file format of a file on windows vista?
If you go to Start%26gt;Control panel%26gt;folder options%26gt;view%26gt; uncheck the hide known file extensions. Then you can edit the file extension. This won't convert your .mp4 to .3GP though for the record. You need a video converter to do thatHow do I change the file format of a file on windows vista?

Use NCH Prism to convert between video formats. You can get it from

As you said, renaming a file does not change the output format. You'll have to convert the file to 3GP format.

The best solution is to use an online media converter. No downloads required and you'll get the result you want.

Most websites will work, but I prefer these media converters:

Just upload your file, then select 3GP as the output format. The rest of the steps should be self-explanatory.
