YouTube will do that if you made it in Windows Movie Maker and didn't 'save' or 'publish' (depending on whether you're on xp or vista) your file to .wmv (or .avi too in vista) format first. It's a very common mistake I see here every day.

I recently did video recording for an event using a camcorder. In next phase, I need to upload them on the event website. For that, I need to transfer the digital files into my computer and then upload it to our website. The default option of file format is DV/ AVI format with excellent quality. However, I was shocked to discover that 1 hr of video coverage corresponds to around 13 GB file!!



I tried other formats like mpeg2 and wmv (windows media). They occupy much less space of around 700 MB per 1 hour. However, the video quality is pathetic compared to original video or AVI files.



I wonder how commercial video sellers and video editing experts bundle up hours of video in excellent quality into 4 GB DVDs and 650 MB VCDs? Do they use special conversion or compression software? If yes, is it freely available? Or do I need to change my settings while capturing video into the computer? I mean if I can get mpeg2 or wmv format video while not losing the video quality.

Hehe, stealing from YouTube are you? Don't worry, I won't tell. There are numerous programs to convert from YouTube to .avi and whatnot. I suggest Free Studio Manager. It also offers a converter to make .flv - .mp3(But you know mp3 is audio only)

Step 7 Click %26quot;Convert/Encode%26quot; to begin the conversion process. A status bar shows the progress of the conversion.

iTunes is stupid, they preach about the legality of buying movies, then turn around and refuse to let you do anything with it once you buy it.



You may be able to use a third party program to change the format, but if it's protected I'm not sure that it would allow itself to be imported and converted.

Itunes puts DRM on most of their content so you basically get to watch it under their terms not your own you can only watch it how they say you can. the only way to do it is to get third party software but that is against what they say. My advice would be to always buy your content from somewhere that advertises their content is drm free. Also itunes puts your name and email into every file you get from them. just open it in notepad and hit ctrl+f and type the first few letters of your email and hit find until you see it. iTunes files are some of the most copy-protected files out there. Apple does this one purpose because they don't want people making copies or giving them away for free or for money. Companies like Apple have been forced into doing this because of things like the original Napster and Limewire. Most Music companies and Movie and TV studios won't allow services like iTunes to offer their media if there are not copy protections in place.

Open it up in Windows Movie Maker and check the tabs up top. One should have a %26quot;Make Movie%26quot; option or something close to that. I use it all the time. It will convert your vid to a wmv i believe. Then Youtube will let you upload it.
